I believe. I am trusting. I am studying the Bible. I am doing all the things, but yet, my prayers go unanswered. Is God still working after 10 years of praying? It gets tiring after so long of waiting. So is it time to give up? No, that’s when you double down, or
Listen to your heart.
When I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, I took classes to prepare for my first Holy Communion. The teacher instructed us to open up your heart and let Jesus come and live inside. I imagined that I had a key and unlocked my heart as I would my diary. I didn’t know how God would live inside me, but that is what I was told to do.
Many years later as a mother of a toddler and expecting my second son, I felt the stirring inside my chest. It was after going to church 4 or 5 weeks in a row that I responded to the pastor’s alter call to give my life and surrender to God.
So now when my chest is burning, I wonder what is the matter. Why do I feel uncomfortable? Is there something I need to do? All emotions serve a purpose. Worry, anxiety, and fear help me to recognize that there is a problem. I have to stop and think, what is the problem? Once the problem is identified, is it my problem? I probably don’t need to stick my nose into other people’s problems. Unless they clearly need my help.
If it is my problem, can I solve it? By myself or do I need to ask for help? If I need help, who should I ask? For problems that are too big or seemingly impossible to be solved, I take those to God. One way or another, He will always answer my prayer with either a yes, no, or wait.
The waiting answer sometimes feels like a no, but then I remember the following three scripture verses.
“We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28
“This is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him.” 1 John 14:15
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:28
- He is working out the situation for my good.
- If I ask according to His will, God hears my request.
- Since my request is heard, I already have what I asked.
- When you believe, you will receive.
I pray for a husband. I’m asking for my marriage miracle, ten years later. Please pray with me. God hears us.
Remember when he speaks, it may sound like a whisper in the wind. So listen to your heart and you will feel the spirit move.
